FOUNDATIONAL OPERATING PRINCIPLES

Last Updated: June 2026

Flortyme exists to support dance, movement, learning, social connection, community participation, and personal growth through meaningful experiences and opportunities.

These Foundational Operating Principles establish the values and decision-making framework that guide the organization's programs, services, events, memberships, partnerships, reservations, and community activities.

COMMUNITY COMMITMENT PRINCIPLE

At Flortyme, a commitment made is a commitment honored.

Once a program, event, activity, reservation opportunity, Shared Floor Time session, registration offering, or community participation opportunity has been designated, published, scheduled, confirmed, or otherwise made available to participants, it becomes a protected community commitment.

Established community commitments shall not be cancelled, displaced, reduced, restricted, rescheduled, refunded, or otherwise altered to accommodate subsequent requests, regardless of membership level, membership classification, booking priority, status, financial consideration, influence, relationship, or administrative convenience.

Priority booking privileges provide earlier access to available opportunities. Priority does not create the right to override, replace, diminish, or interfere with commitments that have already been established.

Flortyme shall honor commitments already made to participants and the community.

FAIR ACCESS PRINCIPLE

Flortyme is committed to providing fair and reasonable access to programs, services, events, floor space, and participation opportunities.

Membership levels may provide differing access windows, pricing structures, and benefits; however, all participants shall be treated consistently under established policies and procedures.

No participant shall receive preferential treatment that diminishes opportunities already committed to others.

TRANSPARENCY PRINCIPLE

Flortyme strives to communicate policies, pricing, scheduling practices, membership benefits, participation requirements, and organizational expectations clearly and consistently.

Participants should be able to make informed decisions based on accurate and reliable information.

COMMUNITY FIRST PRINCIPLE

Flortyme exists to serve participants, support the dance community, encourage learning, foster social connection, and create opportunities for engagement through movement and shared experiences.

Organizational decisions should seek to balance sustainability with the long-term interests of participants, partners, venues, and the broader community.

CONSISTENCY PRINCIPLE

Policies, procedures, participation requirements, and organizational practices should be applied consistently across programs, services, memberships, events, and activities.

Consistency builds trust, supports fairness, and promotes confidence in organizational decision-making.

STEWARDSHIP PRINCIPLE

Flortyme recognizes a responsibility to steward opportunities, resources, partnerships, facilities, community trust, and participant relationships in a manner that supports long-term sustainability and positive experiences.

Organizational decisions should strengthen the integrity, reputation, and future viability of Flortyme and the communities it serves.

PARTICIPATION PRINCIPLE

Flortyme believes that participation strengthens communities.

Programs, services, events, and activities should encourage involvement, accessibility, learning, connection, and personal growth while respecting the diverse goals, abilities, and experiences of participants.

RESPECT PRINCIPLE

Flortyme is committed to fostering respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environments where participants, instructors, volunteers, organizers, partners, and guests are treated with dignity and consideration.

Mutual respect is essential to community building, learning, collaboration, and enjoyable participation experiences.

APPLICATION OF PRINCIPLES

These Foundational Operating Principles guide the development and interpretation of organizational policies, procedures, memberships, programs, services, events, reservations, and community activities.

Where a policy, procedure, or operational decision is unclear, these principles should serve as the primary framework for interpretation and decision-making.

A commitment made is a commitment honored.
