SAFE PARTICIPATION PRACTICES

This policy is governed by and shall be interpreted in accordance with the Flortyme Foundational Operating Principles.
PURPOSE
Flortyme is committed to providing welcoming, enjoyable, and reasonably safe environments for learning, practice, social participation, events, workshops, and community activities.
Participants share responsibility for creating safe and positive experiences by exercising reasonable care, respecting others, and participating within their personal abilities and limitations.
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Participation in dance, movement, social, and physical activities is voluntary.
Participants are responsible for:
• Assessing their own abilities and limitations
• Participating at a level appropriate to their experience and physical condition
• Making informed decisions regarding their involvement
• Seeking professional medical advice when appropriate
• Exercising reasonable care for their own safety and well-being
Flortyme does not provide medical advice or professional health assessments.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Dance and movement activities involve varying degrees of physical exertion.
Participants should:
• Warm up appropriately
• Stay hydrated
• Take breaks when needed
• Avoid activities beyond their abilities
• Stop participating if experiencing pain, dizziness, injury, illness, or discomfort
Participants should notify organizers if immediate assistance may be required.
HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS
Participants are responsible for determining whether participation is appropriate for their personal health circumstances.
Individuals with medical conditions, injuries, physical limitations, or other health concerns should consult appropriate healthcare professionals before participating.
Participation remains at the individual's own discretion and responsibility.
FOOTWEAR & ATTIRE
Participants are encouraged to wear:
• Appropriate footwear
• Comfortable clothing
• Attire suitable for the activity and venue
Certain venues, activities, instructors, or events may establish additional footwear or attire requirements.
Participants are expected to comply with applicable venue rules and activity requirements.
PARTNER DANCE CONSIDERATIONS
Dance activities often involve interaction with other participants.
Participants should:
• Demonstrate respect and courtesy
• Dance within their abilities
• Respect personal boundaries
• Exercise reasonable care when leading, following, or partnering
• Avoid movements that may create unnecessary risk for others
Participation should contribute to a positive and comfortable environment for everyone.
FACILITY & VENUE SAFETY
Participants are expected to:
• Follow posted venue rules
• Respect facility requirements
• Report hazards when observed
• Follow instructions provided by organizers, instructors, venue personnel, and event hosts
• Use equipment and facilities appropriately
Unsafe conduct may result in intervention or restrictions on participation.
SOCIAL EVENTS & COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
Participants attending social events, workshops, gatherings, practice sessions, and community activities should:
• Exercise good judgment
• Respect fellow participants
• Participate responsibly
• Support a welcoming environment
• Refrain from conduct that may compromise safety or enjoyment
EMERGENCIES
In the event of an emergency, participants should:
• Follow directions provided by emergency personnel, organizers, instructors, staff, or venue representatives
• Cooperate with emergency procedures
• Report emergencies as soon as reasonably possible
Flortyme may contact emergency services or take reasonable actions necessary to protect participants, volunteers, staff, and the public.
PERSONAL PROPERTY
Participants remain responsible for their own personal property at all times.
Flortyme, venue providers, partners, volunteers, and organizers are not responsible for lost, stolen, misplaced, or damaged personal belongings.
COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY
Safe participation is a shared responsibility.
Participants are encouraged to contribute positively to a culture of:
• Respect
• Awareness
• Courtesy
• Cooperation
• Community support
Everyone benefits when participants help create environments that are safe, welcoming, and enjoyable.
ORGANIZATIONAL RIGHTS
Flortyme reserves the right to intervene, restrict participation, modify activities, or implement reasonable measures where necessary to support participant safety, venue requirements, operational needs, legal obligations, or community well-being.
INTERPRETATION
Where uncertainty exists regarding the interpretation of this policy, the Flortyme Foundational Operating Principles shall govern.
